December 2007
Busy Beavers!
This month we have a picture from our Beavers Section to show us how creative they have been recently with conkers!
Unfortunately due to legal reaons we are unable to show pictures here.
Last session for Beavers will be on Tuesday, 18th December, when they will take a Christmas break until restarting on Tuesday, 15th January, 2008.
Cubs Fright Night!
All Cubs attained their Creative Challenge and Artist Badges.
Billy Carrick, Ashleigh Blyth, Harry Collier and Jake Craske have been invested.
The annual Cub Night Hike around the Blickling Hall grounds was the scariest one yet. We were excited, yet scared, to find that we were being followed by what seemed to be a hooded man!?!
Cubs will be joining the circus on Saturday, 15th December.
They will take part in a workshop at the Hippodrome, Gt. Yarmouth,
where they will be trained by the professional performers,
then perform themselves in front of an audience of parents before
finally watching the Christmas Circus Show!
Scouts Toddle Success!
Our two teams entered into the Extensive Toddle Night Hike both did extremely well
in the Scout section, winning 1st and 4th places. Congratulations to the winning team,
Ben Evanson (leader), Gregory Wills, Harry Dread and Josh Overton.
4th position team Chris Langton (leader), Ben Mullinger, Daniel Murphy, Harry Gillingwater and Thomas Palmer.
All the boys enjoyed this very challenging event.
Scouts - Swimming Badges.
We will be completing the Swimming Badges this month with our final pool
session on 12th December.
Investments.
Two Scouts were invested during the ‘Jamboree Presentation’ meeting, Gregory Wills and Harry Gillingwater.
Carol Singing at Hoveton.
Scouts have been invited to attend the annual Carol Singing at Beaulieu Lodge, Hoveton,
on Monday, 17th December, at 7.30p.m., followed by a buffet.
Those wishing the attend will need to come in full uniform.
Fundraising.
As many of you may or may not be aware, Robin Rush has kindly been taking part in
the annual Boxing Day swim at Cromer during recent years as a fundraising exercise
for this Scout Group.
Annually, he has successfully raised several hundred pounds which has been used to purchase
additional equipment to enhance the activities provided for all our Scouts!
Bravely, Robin will be in the swim again this year, therefore if anyone would like
to pledge sponsorship to him, please let your Section Leader know so that it can be
passed to Robin.
Following on with the swimming theme, if any of our children would like to take part in
their own sponsorship fundraising event, there is an opportunity to join the ‘Splash for Cash’
event taking part at the Splash Leisure & Fitness Centre, Sheringham on Saturday, 19th January, 2008 6 – 9.30p.m.
Splash for cash is a fundraising event organised by The Benjamin Foundation,
where 60% of what you raise goes to them and 40% to your chosen group (ie. New Scout Hut?)
Anyone wishing to take part please go for further info to
www.benjaminfoundation.co.uk or tel. (01692) 500999.
New Scout Hut.
Following the entertaining and informative ‘Jamboree Presentation’ evening by Daniel Ellis,
Guy Gillingwater and Ricky Watson, a ‘raffle’ and ‘guess the cake weight’ raised another
£103 donation to the new hut fund.
Many thanks to all for an enjoyable and entertaining evening.
